Paramount Licensing invited onto board of Murcia theme park

Jesus Samper, the President of the developer and promotor of the Paramount theme park at Alhama de Murcia, has today confirmed how representatives from Paramount Licencing will join the Board of the company to help drive the project forwards.
Later this month Samper will travel to LA to meet with Paramount Licensing to discuss the progress of the project, where Paramount's move to become board members will also be formalised.
This will be the first such time that Paramount have become board members for any of the companies who own and operate any of their theme parks.

Premursa also explained how they are on schedule in rasing the investment required to build the Lifestyle Centre, to be constructed next to the park itself. A total of 6 million eurosin capital has already been raised through 6,000 shares - 96.6% of which are to Grupo Santa Monica. The remaining 3.4% being split equally between the Regional Ministery of Tourism and the Institute of Development.
Samper had previously confirmed that construction of the project not begin until they had secured 40 Million euros in investment, which is now in place, meaning that work will start in May.
Premursa must then find a total of 1'093 Million Euros in order to finish the project : A third of this is expected to be raised by the sale of plots within the lifestyle centre (such as to Hotels), with an estimated 130 Million Euros being financed by private investors. This just leaves a around 445 Million Euro worth of investment that must be still be found.

Paramount 'Cornerstone Ceremony' 31st May

The Minister of Culture and Tourism for the regional government of Murcia, Pedro Alberto Cruz, yesterday confirmed that the official ceremony for the laying of the cornerstone for the Paramount Pictures Theme Park will be on May the 31st.

The ceremony at the 103 hectare site in Alhama de Murcia is belived to be hosted by the promoter and developer of the park, Proyectos Emblematicos Murcianos SA (Premursa) and presided over by the company President, Jesus Samper.
Following a number of complications earlier in the year, last month it was announced how the project will be now be developed on a footprint of ​​103 hectares, not 158 ​​as was originally planned. It is undertsood that the reduction will be made at the park's adjoining 'Lifestyle Centre', where much of the landed was intended to be used for a number of Hotels, shopping outlets and restaurants.

Freut mich richtig für die Spanier einen weiteren Park zu erhalten. Allerdings hoffe ich, dass hier nicht so gepfuscht wird, wie im Rainbow- Magicland. Denn wenn letztendlich alles nach Plastik aussieht ist es auch nicht mehr schön anzusehen.

Ich sehe das Projekt irgendwie schon als gescheitert an!!!

In an interview with the press yesterday, the Secretary of State for Trade, Jaime García-Legaz, was asked on his opinion on the parallels between the Paramount Pictures theme park at Alhama de Murcia, and the planned 'Eurovegas' complex.

Sheldon Adelson, the owner of Las Vegas Sands corporation, has spoken publically of his plans for the complex, which is expected to result in €15 billion in investment and entail 12 hotels, 6 Casinos and the creating of almost 250'000 much needed jobs.
A number of sites have been prosed for the complex, however the outskirts of Madrid are considered as being the most likely.

García-Legaz told La Verdad how there were differences between Paramount and Eurovegas in that Sheldon Adelson had considerable experience in replicating his success in Las Vegas in other countries throughout the world, and that the financial rewards for Spain were likely to much greater for Spain than the Paramount project.
By comparison, Paramount intends an investment of €1 billion and creation of 20'000 jobs.
Furthermore, the secretary noted that Adelson already had funds in place, whereas it is known that Jesus Samper, P|resident of Premursa - the promoter and devleoper of the Paramount Theme Park - still needs to secure further investment.

Premursa in negotiations to buy more land for Paramount

The Mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Alfonso Fernando Ceron, has confirmed that the laying of the first stone at the Paramount Pictures theme park will take place on the 31st of May.
However, following on from the news earlier this year that the promotor and developer of the park, Premursa, were unable to complete the purchase of all of the 158 hectares originally planned, the Mayor confirmed that the company is still negotiating the purchase of additional plots of land.
It is understood that the plots being negotiated are different to those not purchases from the original plan, and as such the plan general of Fuente Alamo will need to be modified to allow for any future development.

The local planning councilor also confirmed that a further roundabout will and access road will need to be built to allow access to the park due to this change in design.
Premursa were only able to purchase two-thirds of the intended 1.5 million sq mts of land required as the owner of of one the plots - totalling 500'000 sq mts - was involved in a bankruptcy proceeding.

Ich glaubs ja kaum, die bauen das Ding wirklich. Ich freu mich drauf. Hoffentlich wirds ein Erfolg.

Hm, ist schön das sie das anfangen. Nur irgendwie bin ich skeptisch wie das laufen soll.
Parque Warner in Madrid scheint nicht so gut zu laufen. Terra Mitica ist es auch eine Zitterpartie wie sie wirtschaftlich überleben. Und da bauen sie allen ernstes nur 150km entfernt noch einen neuen Park? Mein Tipp: Entweder dieser oder Terra Mitica ist dann nach kurzer Zeit pleite. Für Letzteren würde ich es jammerschade finden.
