Wallace & Gromit head to Blackpool Pleasure Beach!

Wallace & Gromit caused traffic chaos on Blackpool Promenade this week after their iconic heads arrived to be placed on their new ride.

Eh up lad, this looks like a cracking place to set up our new home!

Construction on Thrill-O-Matic is gathering pace with the new £5.25million ride due to open in the Spring. The moving heads will be the centrepiece of an impressive façade which will greet riders to Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s newest attraction.
The lorries carrying the dynamic duo had to battle against adverse weather conditions getting to the seaside from Yorkshire where they have been designed and built in assocation with creators of Wallace & Gromit, Aardman.
Thrill-O-Matic is the world’s first Wallace & Gromit ride with designers and animators at the 42-acre attraction working to make sure its is a right riveting ride.
The ride is on the site of the former Gold Mine and take thrill-seekers on a four-minute trek on their adventures from A Grand Day Out, take in A Close Shave and come face to face with The Curse of the Were Rabbit. Along the way fans will also get a chance to see some of the characters which have made Wallace & Gromit such firm British favourites.
Nick Thompson, Deputy Managing Director at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, said: “It’s always exciting when a new feature of the ride arrives but having Wallace & Gromit’s iconic heads arriving outside the attraction really caused a stir!
“Thrill-O-Matic is really taking shape and looks fantastic, it will add a real thrill to fans to get up close and personal with characters who have left a lasting impression on the nation.
“Seeing these heads arrive on the Promenade means that we really are cracking on with what we know will be an excellent addition to Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 2013.”

April :)

Thrill-O-Matic

Thrill-O-Matic is to replace the Pleasure Beach’s Gold Mine ride. The £5.25 million ride will take visitors on a whirlwind journey through many of the best known scenes from ‘A Grand Day Out’, ‘The Wrong Trousers’, ‘A Close Shave’ and ‘A Matter of Loaf and Death’.
A major challenge for the project has been to translate the unique humour and much loved characters from the films into an attraction.
“It’s the first time we’ve taken the characters to a much bigger scale,” says Clarke. “We’ve worked through every scene even down to approving the music and the look and feel, trying to make sure that there’s plenty of those second and third look gags that you always see in the films and enjoy. Hopefully there’ll be a lot of fun and laughter on the way.

“A lot in the ride is done with sound; we’ve done a lot of recording with bespoke phrases and because it’s inside and a lot darker there are some more subtle gags. Also we’re having a lot of fun in the queue line in terms of different posters and things that we’re looking to create.”
Creating a theme park ride has also allowed Aardman to expand their merchandise range. The shop will stock a full range of Aardman branded products, the only place aside from their website to do so. Clarke is keen to incorporate the traditional “kiss me quick” image of Blackpool and some trademark Aardman humour into the new ranges. “I think that a lot of people who are visiting will want that expressed in the products that they’re buying and were having a lot of fun with it.”
An advantage of developing an established IP is the ready-made fan base. Aardman already actively engage with the fans of their most popular brands via social media; Shaun the Sheep and Wallace & Gromit have three million Facebook fans. Blackpool will be looking to talk to that fan base as well as ride enthusiasts ahead of the official launch on April 24th.

Mal sehen welche Szenen sie umsetzen werden :)
