In 2020, THE LEGO® MOVIE™ World opens in LEGOLAND Billund with three brand new rides and a children's playground. The expansion of 5,000 m2 will be the park’s biggest investment to date and includes Scandinavia's first Flying Theater.
Today, LEGOLAND revealed the spring opening of THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD, created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The all new land will feature three family-friendly marquee attractions, inspired by the characters and themes of the worldwide blockbuster THE LEGO MOVIE and THE LEGO MOVIE 2: The Second Part.
We are very excited to get another new area and three new rides here in LEGOLAND Billund. It will be a unique and thoroughly themed experience, and our guests will no doubt feel that they are entering the fan-favourite universe they know from the LEGO movies, says Christian Woller, director of LEGOLAND.
The first Flying Theater ride in Scandinavia
You will not sit quietly in front of the giant screen when LEGOLAND becomes the first amusement park in Scandinavia to get a Flying Theater. The guests will hover around while watching a captivating movie on the giant 180-degree screen. Also the effects have been emphasised, which means that you can expect wind in your hair, fog and fragrances in the new ride.
It is always exciting when we get a new type of ride. The large screen and the movements make you feel like flying in the movie, and the LEGO theme just works very well for this type of ride where you are drawn into the LEGO universe, says Christian Woller.
While flying, the guests may look forward to a trip into space, fly past the pirates and experience some of the well-known areas of the LEGO movies.
Fly around at 14 metres height
THE LEGO® MOVIE™ World will also offer another high-flying attraction perfect for slightly older guests. Here guests will manage their own aircraft and decide for themselves how much the plane should rotate.
This aerobatic ride is a really fun one that addresses the slightly larger children, where a little more speed is needed, and where you can get a little giddy before landing your plane again. So one should not be too afraid to be turned upside down, says Christian Woller.
Fun for the whole family
Another central part of the area will be a huge playground with a 10 metres high play tower. Outer space is the focal point, and the children may, among other things, try two large slides.
There will also be an opportunity to enjoy the view from a cool new drop tower ride featuring Unikitty from The LEGO® Movie 2™. A 12 metres high tower awaits you and it goes up and down too with plenty of tickling in your stomach.
THE LEGO® MOVIE™ World will get a really good mix of something for the whole family. So there is no doubt that we are very excited to be able to add another great area to the LEGOLAND Billund experience, says Christian Woller.
THE LEGO® MOVIE™ World was developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and LEGO®.
