CLUB TRAVEL COMMUNITY
According to a great interview with Cedar Fair’s new top dog, Matt Ouimet, he is aiming to bring more magical moments to their guest experiences. Sound familiar? It should as Matt is a 17 year Disney management veteran who wants to see more rides that entire families can enjoy together added to their parks, use new technology to connect with the guests and make the chain’s parks known as a place where families will come to visit together.
Very soon this month the company will launch a new online site to make it easier to buy tickets and parking passes for their four biggest parks, with the rest of the parks added soon afterwards this year as they each prepare to open.
“Ouimet wants to create some surprises in the parks, starting this summer. That might mean seeing more costumed characters or finding unexpected performers pop up in the parks. Some will be announced while others will be hidden finds.”
QuelleCEDAR FAIR ENTERTAINS A RECORD 23.4 MILLION GUESTS IN 2011
- Attendance increases 2.6% from the prior 2010 record
SANDUSKY, OHIO, January 5, 2012 -- Cedar Fair (NYSE: FUN), a leader in regional amusement parks, water parks and active entertainment, announced today that attendance at its 17 locations totaled 23.4 million guests in 2011, up 2.6%, or approximately 590,000 visits, from the Company's record attendance of 22.8 million in 2010.
- Strength in annual pass sales and new rides, attractions and special events contribute to record results
"2011 was another strong year for Cedar Fair," said Matt Ouimet, president and chief executive officer. "Our employees did an excellent job providing our guests with the quality experience that they have come to expect from Cedar Fair. The strength of our season pass programs and commitment to premier new rides, attractions and special events also supported the record attendance we experienced this year."
Ouimet added, "Our guests clearly recognize the great entertainment value that is provided by Cedar Fair's parks and resorts. In this difficult economic environment, it is particularly satisfying to see people make Cedar Fair parks their entertainment of choice.
"As we look ahead to 2012, we remain committed to providing a 'best-day-of-the-year experience' for families and friends at all of our parks. In the coming year we will introduce even more exciting rides, expand our night time entertainment offerings and continue to add to our successful Halloween programs."
The Company will be hosting an investor meeting in New York, NY on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. ET. The two hour session will be hosted by the Company's president and chief executive officer, Matt Ouimet, and other senior executives of the Company, and will include a business overview and question and answer session. The session will be webcast live from the Company's web site at Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.

Screamscape schrieb:Still more rumors trickling in about the possible 2013 coaster plans in the works for The Point. Right now the good money bets are still on it being a B&M coaster once again, but this leads to a question about what style? While I think the park could certainly use a good Floorless mega-looper, there is also hope for a mega Floorless Dive Machine concept.
The rumor mill suggests that management (or at least Kinzel’s old management) did not care for the B&M Flyers. The park already has a plentiful supply of launched coaster concepts, so this really leaves only the new Wing Coaster idea as an alternate possibility, but with SFGAm building one in greater market, I have a feeling Cedar Point isn’t ready to jump on that bandwagon yet either.
