Bisher habe ich dazu leider auch noch nichts gefunden, nur der Gondelhersteller steht (wie oben geschrieben) mit der Leitner Gruppe schon fest, vom Design her kann man es auch nicht wirklich zuordnen

Developers begin next construction phase for SkyVue’s 500-foot wheel

"When you think of the Strip, that's the view people want to see," he said. "That's the attraction Las Vegas has for the rest of the world."
Bulloch was looking out of a helicopter hovering above the southern Strip at dusk Monday evening, across from a parcel of land that he has owned with partner David Gaffin for more than 12 years. Little more than a year ago, Bulloch and Gaffin announced plans for SkyVue, an observation wheel on the scale of the Singapore Flyer, or the Star of Nanchang in China or the London Eye.
"People had been talking about putting an observation wheel in Vegas for years, and we just decided we were going to do it," Bulloch said
Down on the ground, two pillars now 60 feet tall point skyward, showing SkyVue is more than just so much talk. Today, the project begins the second phase of a $200 million construction that Bulloch promises will have a wheel towering over the Strip by the end of the year.
A dozen semi trucks are set to roll into the construction site this morning, bringing enough steel cable to stretch from the Strip to the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco to serve as supports for the massive wheel.
Plans are to have the hub and spindle for the wheel in place by the end of summer. By fall, constructions workers will begin forging large pie-shaped steel supports around the hub for a wheel expected to carry passengers late next year.
"The engineering behind it is like a big Erector set," Bulloch said.
The wheel is going over a base of concrete submerged some 14 feet into the desert floor, where cheap hotels once stood on land Bulloch and Gaffin have owned since Mandalay Bay was under construction. The wheel will be flanked on each side by huge LED screens the size of football fields, advertising restaurants and retail shops that are part of the development.
It's no coincidence that cable trucks are making deliveries just as the International Council of Shopping Centers is holding its convention in Las Vegas. Bulloch spent the day visiting booths at the ICSC, pitching his 140,000-square-feet of retail, dining and entertainment space.
The competition has been a little more noisy about its plans. Caesars Entertainment has been busy tearing up the center of the Strip and imploding a parking garage to make room for the Linq, which will have an observation wheel that overlooks the Flamingo and the Imperial Palace.
Linq is supposed to be taller by 50 feet.
In a town where developers try to outdo the other, Bulloch said that, 500 feet in the air, most people won't really notice 50 feet. He also said he thinks his wheel will not only have the best view, but be seen the most.
"Every airplane that flies in and out of Vegas will fly past that wheel," Bulloch said. "And everyone who takes their picture in front of the Las Vegas sign will have our wheel in the background."

Anscheinend wird nun auch das 2. Riesenradprojekt umgesetzt... eventuell hat Las Vegas also bald 2 riesige Riesenräder

Time for a little update from the Imperial Palace… what may become known as The Quad,though another reader took a survey where they asked for opinions on the use of the name Hotel 3535 instead. (WHA?????)
Whatever they are going to call it, a large crane is now on site next door for Project Linq, with large footers poured and in place for Las Vegas’ second giant wheel project. So with construction moving full speed ahead, it does look like Las Vegas will indeed really become home to two giant wheels.

Geil, die sind so herrlich durchgeknallt ( ein Giant Wheel kann ja auch "jeder", 2 davon ist schon wieder einzigartig ), ... bin mal gespannt, was ich im Oktober zu sehen bekommen werde ...

Es ist wohl offiziell! Auch für das 2. Riesenrad wurden die Bauanträge eingereicht!

Das LinQ Riesenrad wird das höchste der Welt und wohl den Namen "The High Roller" tragen:

Somit wird Las Vegas wohl bald das höchste (168 m) und das 4. höchste (152 m) Riesenrad der Welt beherbergen Welches von den beiden dann wohl besser läuft^^

Ich meine, mal gelesen zu haben, dass in Moskau ein über 200m ( 220m ? ) hohes Riesenrad geplant ist / war, aber geplant wird ja viel, in Las Vegas scheinen die Pläne zu den Bauprojekten in die Tat umgesetzt zu werden, das zählt dann am Ende.
Man kann sich natürlich darüber streiten, ob es Sinn macht, 2 Giganten in einer Stadt zu platzieren. - Aber es handelt sich ja auch nicht um irgendeine Stadt … ein bisschen macht das Übertriebene die Stadt schließlich aus …

Ich kann mir schon jetzt die Werbung für das kleinere Rad vorstellen: 'Unobstructed view on the largest ferries wheel on earth. Only here.'

Da nach dem letzten Update knapp 3 Monate verstrichen sind und ich kürzlich in Las Vegas gewesen bin, hier mal ein kleiner aktueller Eindruck von den Baustellen ( Bilder sind nur ein paar Tage alt ):

Wow da lässt sich doch tatsächlich eine kleine Überraschung zusätzlich erahnen, denn auch wenn es sehr kantig aussieht, riecht es auf dem Plakat unten links nach einem Coaster, hehehehehe

Gut möglich. Das Areal ist relativ groß. Ich glaube nicht, dass das Riesenrad das einzige Bauprojekt auf der Fläche sein wird. Das ein oder andere Fahrgeschäft für Jugendliche und/ oder kann ich mir schon ganz gut vorstellen.

Mario M. hat doch mal erwähnt, dass die Einzelteile von Speed the Ride in der Nähe der Baustelle zwischengelagert worden sind, so gesehen dürfte zumindest der Wiederaufbau am südlichen Strip nicht ausgeschlossen sein.
Auch wenn Speed the Ride vom Fahrkomfort bisher die beste Achterbahn in Las Vegas war ( der bisher wahrgenommene Tenor und die eigene Meinung ), so hoffe ich mal, dass es nicht bei dieser Bahn bleibt, dass vielleicht in ein paar Jahren ein ordentliches Pfund nachgelegt wird …
